Frequently Asked Questions
Why do we need a Foundation? Why should I give to the Foundation?
We are fortunate to be part of the Eden Prairie community that has a strong, valued and well-respected school system. However, Eden Prairie residents must recognize that times are changing as reflected by: declining new residential development, peaking student enrollment, and reduced funding by the State due to declining enrollment. It is imperative to invest in the future and to play a part in ensuring the ongoing excellence of Eden Prairie Schools.
How does FEPS support our schools?
FEPS sponsors various events and programs, including:
Grants: Grants are awarded to innovative proposals that have a direct and measurable impact on students. Since its inception in 2006, grant demand has significantly exceeded funding.
Scholarships: FEPS’s annual renewable scholarship, which honors EPHS graduate Betty Holasek-Griffiths, is awarded each year to a student graduating from EPHS.
Present with a Future: FEPS invites contributions honoring staff who play an important role in a student’s life. Honored individuals receive a recognition letter and the contribution is split equally between the honoree’s school and FEPS.
Computers for Kids: Through a generous corporate donation, this program provides computers to students who would not otherwise be able to afford one.
Legacy Awards: In May of each year, this dinner honors teachers, staff, volunteers, alumni, and students who made significant contributions to Eden Prairie Schools.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes. The Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and we will mail the donor a receipt for any contribution made.
Do other school districts have Foundations?
Yes, school districts across the country have similar foundations, including more than 50 in Minnesota.
What is the difference between the Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools and Eden Prairie Foundation?
The Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools funds programs within the schools that build on the continued excellence of our schools. The Eden Prairie Foundation supports community organizations and projects, including capital projects for our schools.
